Senior Games Questions and Answers
By Ray Texeira
Thanks to everyone who has sent us emails with comments and questions. One of our favorite emails come from Mary J. who writes, “I am physically healthy and play pickleball and golf every week, while my husband has health issues and cannot join me. These senior games have opened up the opportunity to compete together as there are games for both of us. We look forward to help bringing home the community trophy and having fun. Bless you and the team.”
Thanks Mary. We have received a number of questions that I would like to answer.
Q: How many games are there and when are they played?
A: Opening ceremony is Friday March 14th and the last game is April 4th. There are 12 games and over two + weeks with one played per day. There are no Sunday games.
Q: I don’t expect to win so how can I help get points for my community?
A: When you sign up for a game, you will automatically get community points. The winners will get additional points.
Q: How many games can I sign up for and how much does it cost?
A: You can sign up for has many as you want. There will be an “early bird” special of $5 per game from mid November to Mid December. After that it will be $7 per game.
Q: How many people will be playing?
A: Since each game is played in one day and varies in the amount of required, the number of participants are limited by the length of the game and the location space. In general, there will be a cap of around 64 people for most of the games. The number of participants allowed to play will be equally divided into the four communities and will be adjusted based on community interest.
